André Laplante explores the dynamics of nature, primarily those of the forest, through an intuitive and introspective approach. These dynamics encompass the constant forces and processes that govern the natural world, such as growth, decomposition, cycles of regeneration, erosion, the seasons, and the interactions between different natural elements. These phenomena, visible or imperceptible, influence not only landscapes and natural forms, but also human emotions and perceptions. Drawing inspiration from these transitions and mutations, André captures and reinterprets elements of his environment through an emotional lens, where forms and textures become visual metaphors that illustrate the internal and emotional transformations occurring in parallel. These "internal and emotional transformations" refer to the psychological or affective changes that individuals undergo, often resonating with nature's natural cycles. This includes experiences of personal growth, healing, loss, and resilience in the face of adversity. By observing how nature transforms over time, André creates visual metaphors that symbolize these internal states, reflecting how natural and human cycles are interconnected. His works emerge from a combination of visual textures and raw emotions, capturing the essence of vegetation and bodies of water. They seize moments of transition, states of mutation where nature, under the influence of time or greater forces, metamorphoses. This approach results in works that, while abstract, resonate through their ability to evoke familiar landscapes and universal feelings. These feelings, such as resilience, change, loss, transformation, nostalgia, or renewal, echo the natural cycles of life. André thus manages to translate the emotions we feel in the face of the inevitable changes in nature and our own existence. The techniques he employs vary according to his mood, but a constant essence persists: a deep connection with his gestures and movements and a visual representation that reflects an intimate perception of the natural world.
